He derived movements 2 and 3, aria and recitative, from stanza 2, movement 5, another aria, from stanza 4, and the last recitative from stanza 5. An unknown poet kept the first, third and sixth stanza as movements 1, 4 and 7 of the cantata. The hymn is only distantly related to the readings, concentrating on the thought that the Christians sin and deserve punishment, but may be raised to joy in a " seliger Tod" (blessed death). The cantata is based on a song of penitence, " Ach, lieben Christen, seid getrost", in six stanzas by Johannes Gigas (1561), sung to the melody of " Wo Gott der Herr nicht bei uns hält". Jesus heals the sick by Rembrandt, as in the prescribed gospel, 1649 Bach scored the cantata for four vocal parts, and a Baroque instrumental ensemble of a horn to reinforce the chorale tune, a transverse flute, 2 oboes, strings and continuo. The poet reworded the other stanzas as arias and recitatives, including references to the prescribed gospel about the healing of a man with dropsy. An unknown poet kept three stanzas in their original form, which Bach set as an opening chorale fantasia, a central fourth movement with the soprano accompanied only by the continuo, and a four-part closing chorale as movement 7. Ach, lieben Christen, seid getrost is based on a hymn of penitence by Johannes Gigas (1561). That cycle was planned as a cycle of the chorale cantatas for all occasions of the liturgical year. Don’t waste your time or money.Johann Sebastian Bach composed the church cantata Ach, lieben Christen, seid getrost (Ah, dear Christians, be comforted), BWV 114, in Leipzig for the 17th Sunday after Trinity and first performed it on 1 October 1724.īach created the work as part of his second annual cantata cycle when he was Thomaskantor (director of music) in Leipzig. the cokes were extortion what the **** I didn’t even want to pay for the food as it’s not cheap and I went home with an empty stomach and was so pissed of because of the fact that I’m a right foodie! I don’t mind paying for something I’m going to EAT that’s expensive but that for the price was not worth the money at all! The only thing that was good was the service we got and that’s probably only because we were the only people in the restaurant. Nothing naga about them it was just dipped in chilli sauce. Not to forget the starters we ordered nachos and naga wings, nachos were less than average the only thing eaten off the plate were the crisps and the naga wings. the taste of the steak I had was so tasteless and so were the sauces it wasn’t even average! The peppercorn sauce just literally tasted of pepper and the amount that was given was little! Considering the amount we were paying for the whole meal. she was really nice about the whole situation and did try to explain what it was but I my self know that it was defiantly blood and cloudy fluid oozing out of the steak!!! I thought to my self I’m not gonna let this ruin my experience so I cut around the bloody bit and cooked the rest. now I understand that the whole concept is you cooking your own food, but it just put me off completely.my fiancé called the lady and showed her the blood and all the extra fluid and she tried explaining what it was and was adamant the it wasn’t blood it was just fluid coming off the steak which made me feel even more put off than I already was! I think the lady could see the disgust in my face and told me shed take it back to the chef and let him cook it a little more for me. anything there and what absolutely shocked me was that there was blood as I cut in. the steak was smaller than stated and the sauces that came with it were so appalling there was barely. My fiancé has been talking about this restaurant for a long time so we decided to go! I was so disappointed.
